Stop! You're doing it all wrong!

June 05, 20243 min read

“When you are engaged in an activity, you cannot see yourself.” - Nagui Bihelek

Can't you see? You're doing it all wrong! This statement, often perceived as harsh criticism, can actually be a pivotal moment of enlightenment if approached with the right mindset and tools. The neuroscience of observation, a complex yet fascinating subject, suggests that truly understanding our actions and behaviors requires an almost out-of-body experience. It's about seeing ourselves through the eyes of others, which goes beyond the simple act of looking in a mirror.

As business owners or leaders, we sometimes overlook the fact that our team members might not realize their mistakes for two primary reasons: A) They lack the perspective to see themselves from an external viewpoint, and B) They don't have sufficient experience to recognize their errors. This is particularly true for individuals who have embarked on a business venture within a trade they are deeply familiar with and where they are respected for their quality of work. Their journey, marked by lessons learned from mentors, peers, and their own mistakes, has allowed their skills to evolve significantly. However, when deeply engrossed in their tasks, it becomes challenging for them to identify what might be going wrong. This phenomenon can be succinctly described as, "When you're in it, you can't see it."

Stop - Break the cycle

This is where the AccuMatchBI assessment emerges as a transformative tool. Its power lies in its ability to unveil those unconscious patterns that govern our actions, thereby allowing individuals to discern between right and wrong, good and bad. By acting as a neurological mirror, the AccuMatchBI assessment exposes thought patterns, biases, and filters that we might not be aware of. It offers a unique opportunity to scrutinize the suitability of each aspect of our behavior in relation to our roles, functions, and goals.

The process of learning and development is inherently tied to our ability to question and explore new possibilities. It involves seeking out opportunities to improve and embracing the journey of trying new things. This path of self-discovery and observation is what we refer to as "Behavior Intelligence." It's a journey towards enlightenment, marked by an increased self-awareness and a deeper understanding of our behaviors and their impacts.

To embark on this enlightening journey, here are some recommended steps to follow:

1. Embrace Self-awareness: Begin by acknowledging the need for an external perspective to truly understand your behavior and its effects on others.
2. Utilize Tools like AccuMatchBI: Leverage assessments and tools designed to mirror your neurological patterns and behaviors, providing insights that are not observable to the naked eye.
3. Seek Feedback: Actively seek feedback from peers, mentors, and team members. Their observations can provide valuable external perspectives.
4. Reflect and Question: Dedicate time to reflect on the feedback and insights gained from assessments. Question the suitability of your behaviors in achieving your goals.
5. Experiment and Learn: Be open to experimenting with new approaches and learning from the outcomes. This iterative process is key to behavioral intelligence.

In conclusion, the journey to behavior intelligence and enlightenment is a transformative process that requires a commitment to self-awareness and a willingness to explore and question our behaviors. By utilizing tools like the AccuMatchBI assessment and embracing the perspectives of others, individuals can embark on a path of self-discovery that leads to improved personal and professional growth.
